A very warm welcome to the website of Shellharbour City Council. While we’re one of the oldest local government areas in New South Wales, we’re continuing to rapidly expand as a city and have our sights fixed firmly on the opportunities of the future. What was once a collection of disparate villages, townships and suburbs is now a cohesive community with a well-established and thriving city centre, which has been master planned to ensure it caters for Shellharbour’s ongoing needs. With the global economic situation posing extra challenges for local government, Council continues to maintain a high level of performance against all the objectives set out in our Management Plan. Some of those highlights include the continued expansion of aviation-related businesses at the Illawarra Regional Airport, the development of Myimbarr Community Park with its sporting facilities, wetlands and open areas, the progress of the billion-dollar Shell Cove tourist/residential development, and our innovative “economic gardening” program which identifies and assists emerging entrepreneurs in the city.
